What’s that?“ is a poem explaining my view on Biphobia through my own experiences. This written entry into Expression 2016, “What’s That?” was entered by Kaycee Barnes
Biphobia.
It’s not a word you hear often.
Homophobia is well known. Transphobia is well known.
But Biphobia? What’s that?
Biphobia is not being accepted.
Biphobia is being told to “Just pick one”.
Biphobia is being called straight when I date a guy and gay when I date a girl.
Biphobia is being erased.
Biphobia is being told you’re greedy.
Biphobia is hearing “It’s just a phase”.
Biphobia is being asked “But Bi’s just a stepping stone to gay right?”
Biphobia is being told you don’t belong.
Biphobia is feeling like you have no place.
Biphobia is “What if I’m actually straight?”
Biphobia is “What if I’m actually gay?”
Biphobia is confusion.
Biphobia is uncertainty.
Biphobia is being told Biphobia doesn’t exist.
Biphobia.
It’s not a word you hear often.
Homophobia is well known. Transphobia is well known.
But Biphobia? What’s that?
“’What’s That?’ is a poem explaining my view on Biphobia through my own experiences.”
